Final spurt for the preparation of the legally compulsory measures for obligatory weight verification of freight containers. As from July 1, 2016, the loaders are put into charge. During the World Harbor Conference in Hamburg in early summer of 2015, about 900 participants, representatives and decision makers in maritime business recognized the huge changes which the law will bring. When the act commences, the ordering party and/or loader shall be obliged to prove the load. Theoretic load weights are no longer permissible. The loader has to provide proof, which has to be included in the transport document or a separate documentation has to be provided which may be signed by authorized persons only. According to the World Harbor Conference the loader cannot hope for a deadline extension. The fact is that without verified gross weight no loaded freight container will be loaded on board of a seagoing vessel.
