Terrorism, globalisation and the international security situation have caused the World Customs Organisation to set up a world-wide risk management in the customs administrations. In the EU, the approved economic operators (AEOs) constitute an important element in the safety concept.
Thus, since 2008, companies located in the European Union and are involved in customs dealings can apply for the status of the Approved Economic Operator (AEO). The objective of the certification is to safeguard a consistent international delivery change from the manufacturer of a product to the final consumer. Among other things, the advantage of an AEO status is the simplified customs procedures.
Hirschmann MCS has received the status AEO-F (Full) which is indispensable for suppliers of certain branches of business. The prerequisite for this status is the observation and screening of the flow of in-coming and out-going goods movements of all type of transport. A safe change of delivery has to be ensured without gaps. In case of Hirschmann MCS this includes also the safe delivery of supplied raw materials, the secured production, the safe packaging and intermediate storage prior to delivery and handover to the respective freight carrier. In addition, all employees who get in touch with the products physically have to be sensitized correspondingly and have to be trained once a year.
